  17. <p>    It is easy to forget that the constantly concertizing LIONEL
  18. HAMPTON is 84. In May the jazz world got a scary reminder.
  19. Performing in Paris, the vibraphone virtuoso was overcome by
  20. dizziness. The diagnosis: exhaustion. Hampton was back in the
  21. swing last week, jamming with other jazz greats at Manhattan's
  22. Lincoln Center. In August he flies to Houston for a gig as a
  23. Republican delegate. "Music gives me life. I'm creating all the
  24. time."
